Meet Dean Loporchio, M.D.
Dean Loporchio, MD is a native Rhode Islander and specialist in medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina. He graduated from Boston College and attended Rutgers University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences where he received a Master’s of Science. He continued his medical school education at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and was accepted at Brown University for his internship and ophthalmology residency. He completed his surgical retina fellowship at Boston University and has returned to Rhode Island where he has been in private practice.

He enjoys working with patients and helping not only to treat, but educate them on their disease processes. He is a peer-reviewed author with publications in numerous ophthalmology journals. His areas of interest include age-related macular degeneration as well as diabetic retinopathy and other vascular diseases of the retina.
Dr. Loporchio enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction as well as outdoors activities including biking, strength training, swimming and snowboarding. He enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time with their son.
